Portlaw U15’s: Portlaw 2-0 Piltown. A muddy pitch in Piltown was the setting for a local derby recently as we took on near rivals Piltown. The game was back and forth with neither team creating too many clear cut chances until five minutes before the break when Blake Kiely latched onto a ball near the halfway line and it sailed into the back of the net to give us the lead going into the break. We stepped it up in the second half where we created multiple chances but struggled to convert until Darragh Long’s corner found birthday boy Harry Carroll to put us 2-0 up making sure the points were sealed. All in all a great result, a shoutout must go out to Alex Flynn who put in a stellar performance at centre half and we remain top of the league with three games to play.
Munster Junior Cup: Round of 16 (team sponsor, the Clodagh Bar). A weekend ahead when our premier team travel to Offaly to take on North Tipp league side Moneygall in the last 16 of the Munster Junior Cup. Last time out the lads had a great win over Castleview, from Cork, and the lads have trained hard through the festive period to be ready for Saturday's game. There is a huge prize of a place in the quarter final of Munster for the winner. Best of Luck on Saturday to the team and coaches from all at the club.
Best of Luck to Portlaw’s Sarah O’Connor in the Munster U16C Final. Sarah’s team takes on Kerry. Best of Luck to Portlaw’s Matilda Walsh in the Munster U16A semi final as her team takes on Clare at 1pm in Ogonnelloe GAA, Clare. Fantastic to see three of our own versatile committee members taking part in this year's pantomime. We wish everyone especially Derek, Alan and Freddy the very, very best of luck.
