Local Notes: It's all happening at the library this summer!

Summer Stars free reading progamme is embraced by children across the city - such as this group of pupils from St. Declan's NS who previously launched the initiative. It runs at libraries across Waterford until August 31.
The death sadly occurred on Friday, June 27, of Mr. Paschal O’Brien, late of Earl’s Court, Dunmore Road, Waterford, formerly of New Ross, Co Wexford. Predeceased by his beloved parents Johno and Ollie, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife and best friend Imelda, sister Siobhan, brothers Ultan, Shane and Fredric; sisters-in-law Ann, Pat and Rose and brother-in-law Sean. Forever remembered by all his nieces and nephews, relatives, extended family, wonderful neighbours and wide circle of friends. Requiem Mass took place on Monday, June 30, in St Mary’s Church, Ballygunner, Waterford, at 11:30am, after which Paschal was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Condolences are extended to Paschal's family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
The death sadly occurred on Monday, June 30, of Mr. Michael Keane, 12 Grange Lawn, Waterford, formerly of Friary Street, Dungarvan, and late of ESB Waterford. Predeceased by his loving wife Maura, grandchildren Clodagh and Sara, he will be sadly missed by his loving children Ann, Michael, Margaret, Mary, Deirdre, Robert, David, Paul and John, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place in St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner on Thursday, July 3, at 11.30am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Condolences are extended to Michael's family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
Summer Stars Free Reading Programme runs from now until August 31 in Waterford Libraries. Pick up your child’s reading card, complete it before August 31 and drop back to your local library. Any child who completes the Summer Stars Reading Programme will receive a medal and certificate in October 2025.
Wednesday Board Games at Ardkeen library every week from 2:30pm – 4.30pm, plenty of board game fun – Uno, Scrabble, Connect 4 and much more, from July 2 to August 27. All welcome.
