Ferrybank Shopping Centre on the outskirts of Waterford City
Plans have been lodged with Kilkenny County Council for a new 61-home development in Ferrybank, on a site at Clover Avenue, Abbeylands. The site is located at Clover Meadows along the proposed ring road between the Aldi Roundabout and Ross Abbey Shopping Centre.
The proposal includes a mix of homes: nine one-bedroom apartments, six two-bedroom apartments, 38 three-bedroom terraced houses, and eight four-bedroom semi-detached houses. It also involves removing unfinished structures from a previous planning permission, creating new access from Clover Avenue, and providing landscaping, open spaces and full-service connections.
The application was submitted on May 13, 2026, and a decision is expected by July 7, 2026, although this may be delayed if further information is requested.
Abbey Community College has received an Exemplary School Award in the AIB Future Sparks School Impact Awards. The judges commended the school’s Collaborative Litter Picking initiative. TY Social Studies students were recognised for winning the Waterford Schools Litter Challenge and mentoring younger students.
