Result: Ballyduff 0 Portlaw United FC 2. We came out on the right side of this keenly contested derby. We started the game well and brought the game to Ballyduff, creating a number of chances. The deadlock was broken though with a 25 yard screamer from Tom O’Regan finding the top corner. We were unlucky not to increase our lead with Harry heading onto the crossbar a short while later, making it 1-0l at the break.
The second half was a tight affair with Ballyduff creating some good chances but our defence and Jack in goal stood firm. Eoin converted from a corner midway through the half to give us some breathing space. Ballyduff pushed but we held out for the clean sheet.
Well done lads, great result and thanks Ballyduff for a good game.
Our under 12 girls travelled to St Joseph's and came away with a 3-0 win. Super from start to finish, with two great goals from Sophia Grace and a brilliant finish from Lily Kinsella gave us a great win Well Done Girls.
2B Result Portlaw 2 Tramore 0 League leaders Tramore came to the Paddock for a top of the table clash.
We went on the front foot from the start and took the game to Tramore and eventually the pressure paid off with a superbly taken goal from Shane O’Brien.
We were on the front foot again at the start of the second half and Cian Kiely put us two up after two mins.
Tramore threw everything at us in the last 20 minutes but Mark Morahan was in top form in the goal. A well-deserved win that keeps us in the mix for league honours.
Well done men.
Result Portlaw 2-3 Hibs We were unlucky to find ourselves on the wrong end of a 3-2 result this morning in a cracking game with two really good teams.
We started really well and had a number of good chances before Hibs took the lead when a ball fell to their striker and he finished from outside the box. We got back into the game when Luke Woods played a brilliant ball through for Jordan Myler to bring us level at half time.
We started the second half well and a Michael O’Connor corner was met by a towering header from DJ Foran to give us a deserved lead.
We seemed to be comfortable and in control but two quick Hibs goals gave them the lead.
In injury time we were awarded a penalty when Ciaran Kirwan was upended by the Hibs keeper with the keeper going on to make a great penalty save to give Hibs the three points.
Really good performance by our lads, disappointed not to get anything out of the game.
Thanks to our match day sponsors Eoin Maher (Maher Fuels) and our team sponsors The Clodagh Bar.
