Local Notes: Car draw, cruise ships and community centre news

The car draw will take place at the end of August.
The death occurred on August 7, in Killure Bridge Nursing Home, of Mrs Biddy Furlong (née: Haberlin), Kilmacleague, Dunmore East, and formerly of Gyles Quay, Ferrybank.
Her remains reposed in Killure Bridge Nursing Home, on Thursday, August 8. Her Requiem Mass was on Friday, August 9, in Our Lady's Church, Carbally, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband Johnny, parents James and Mary, sister Kitty and son-in-law John. She is survived by her daughter Maura Power and son Sean, sister Nan, daughter-in-law Paula, granddaughter Anna, sisters-in-law Maureen and Anne, her nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. The Furlong family would like to thank Mary and all the staff in Killure Bridge Nursing Home for the wonderful care Biddy received.
Mass Times in Killea Church this week are: Wednesday, August 14 at 7.30 pm; (Holy Day Vigil), Friday, August 16, at 9.30am; Sunday, August 18 - at 9.30am. Mass in Carbally Church is celebrated every Sunday at 11am.
A very special event will take place in the Diocese on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 17 and 18, when the relics of St Bernadette will visit the Diocese and a programme of events will be held in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity over the two days. More details to follow.

The next two Cruise Ships to call this year to Dunmore will be the 'Nautica' on Thursday, August 15 at 6am, with 684 passengers oboard. It will leave at 4pm. Then, on Friday, August 25, the 'Seven Seas Splendour' will arrive at 7pm and leave at 6pm. It will have 732 passengers on board. All local residents and businesses are asked to take note.
Gaultier GAA, Gaultier Ladies Gaelic Football Club, Gailltír Camogie Club are raffling a Volkswagen Golf Car or €30,000 for as little as €25 or 5 for €100. The draw will take place on August 25 in the Haven Hotel, in Dunmore East.
