Portlaw Camogie Club

Portlaw Camogie Club have been sponsored by Abbott in Clonmel to be the recipient of Cardiac Screening for young adults age 12 to 18. This is a free service being offered to our members and is vital in detecting any underlying heart conditions in young people that can be treated if diagnosed. Anyone who watched the All Ireland final will have heard the Tipperary Captain speak about Dillon Quirke in his victory speech. Dillon died aged 23 whilst playing a hurling match from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). His parents set up the Dillon Quirke Foundation in his memory to raise awareness of SADS and provide free cardiac screening to teenagers to detect undiagnosed cardiac issues that can be treated to prevent more young adults losing their lives. We are lucky to have the Dillon Quirke Foundation visiting Portlaw National School on Monday, August 18, on behalf of Portlaw Camogie Club to carry out screening of our members aged 12 to 18. The appointment only takes 20 mins but could save a life. The Dillon Quirke Foundation is a charity reliant on donations to provide this free service but cardiac screening is covered by Laya Healthcare so please enter your Laya membership number if you have one when completing the form. Screening will take place from 9.30am to 5pm on Monday, August 18, in Portlaw National School.

U10s Well Done to all the U10’s that attended a Challenge Match over in St.Mollerans. Thanks to St. Molleran’s GAA & Camogie Club for the invite. These girls love to play matches and are improving more and more each game.
