Busy Times in St. Paul’s

Over recent weekends we welcomed all our First Communion and Confirmation students from Presentation Primary School, St. Paul’s Primary School, Butlerstown Primary School to various Masses in St. Paul’s and Butlerstown. Sr. de Lourdes organised the pupils. Fr. Pat Fitzgerald and Fr. Dawit celebrated the Masses. The students took part fully in the Service looking after the Gifts of the Faithful and the Prayers of the Faithful. The choirs enhanced and added greatly to the occasion. They were joined by Students from the John Paul 11 Awards from Presentation Secondary School, who welcomed everyone to the Church and did the readings. Tim, Nuala and Jane, Faith Reps., assisted the students. All the community wish every blessing to the pupils as they continue their faith journey.

Thank You

A big thank you to St. Paul’s Boy Scouts for a wonderful afternoon for the over 60s Christmas Party in St. Paul’s Parish Centre. A beautiful meal was provided with cakes and lots of tea. This was made possible by Fr. Pat and much appreciated. The band were great and everyone had a ball. Many thanks to all who helped and especially the Boy Scouts who organised and ran the event supported by many others from the community. This is an annual event run by the Boy Scouts and we are all looking forward to next year’s party! Happy Christmas to each and everyone who was involved! (Teresa Collins).

Donation From Frank Leahy Walk

Elaine Walsh received a donation from the Frank Walk. Elaine is the driving force behind a new website called Autismandme which will soon be going live. Her website will be a huge resource for people with Autism and their families and friends. It will provide invaluable support, empowerment and information for autistic individuals and their loved ones. Jason Murphy made the presentation for this hugely positive project.

Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony

On Saturday, December 20, the Annual Wreath Laying and Blessing by Fr. Pat Fitzgerald took place at 2pm on the corner of Larchville and Manor St. John, in memory of dear departed family and friends who are no longer with us, and a special wreath in remembrance for the four young Collins sisters of Manor St. John, forever in our hearts.

Very Active Day in St. Paul’s

The day began when Joe and Theresa, and Joe made a Christmas dinner for all the residents of Francis Court and invited guests who helped through the year including Community Garda David Browne and Bernadette, who ran educational courses. Then at 3pm Dick Roche, John and Mary Burns, Dolly and Jane held a Pongo Bingo fundraiser event for the Parish Clock. A great event and a valuable amount of money raised for a good cause. Everyone won something except Cllr John Hearne himself but when he came home, a neighbour left a slab of Coors cans for him for Christmas. Maureen Power is a diamond of a neighbour so on a miserable rainy day, a Christmas dinner, good craic in the Parish Centre and a present – what a good place to live in! Great people in a great community. ( Larchville/Lisduggan Residents Association.)

Christmas Sale

Larchville/Lisduggan Residents Association will be having a 'Books DVD and CDs' fundraising event on December 21 in the Waterford Shopping Centre with all donations going to the Jubilee Clock. After our very successful toy appeal last year no child will be without a toy. We are appealing for donations again this year. Toys, books and DVDs can be left in our Storage Box in Francis Court opposite St. Paul’s Primary School. Thanks again for your continued support. Also looking for any fishing equipment you no longer need for our youth group.

Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to become Eucharistic Ministers distributing Holy Communion at Mass in St Paul's Parish. You would be most welcome to join our team with only a short introduction, flexible rotas, just giving a short time in such a vital service to your parish. If you would like to volunteer please ring the Parish Office 051 357730 weekday mornings. Thank You.

Christmas Concert

The recent WLR/St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Concert was a great success and expressions of thanks were extended to all at WLR who organised the event in St. Paul’s Church. Thanks was also conveyed to all who participated and attended to make it a great night. Sincere thanks from the Vincent de Paul Society for your contributions on the night, which amounted to €1,360.00. This is very much appreciated at a time of great need.

The Jubilee Clock

“This clock will stand as a witness to the hours we’ve shared, the laughter, the labour, and the legacy of fifty years.” We are now at the stage of gathering resources and raising funds to meet the requirements of bringing The Jubilee Clock Project to completion. Please pick up a copy of the updated information leaflet in the church. Envelopes are also available for those who would like to contribute. We are inviting support from all who would like to play a part in bringing this unique landmark into being, in any way, great or small. Donations can be made at the Church or online through the parish website www.stpaulsbutlerstown.ie. Your presence and encouragement mean the world to us. A special thank you to Brownes Photography and Jim Campbell for capturing the moments. It’s been a week we won’t forget, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

Millennium Youth Group

A special celebration for our new young girls took place recently in the Millenium Youth Group in Lisduggan when they enjoyed an early Christmas dinner. Hope you all enjoyed the Christmas fun. A spokesperson said: "We’re thrilled to be nominated for the Tesco Community Fund. Next time you’re shopping in Tesco Poleberry please pop your blue tokens in our chute. Your tokens directly support our Younglings programme, helping early school leavers work toward their Bronze Gaisce Award." Small action, big impact – thank you!
