Local Notes: Big anniversary for Fóroige club, Argentinian tango and a clothes swap

Bereavement

The death has sadly occurred on Friday, March 20, of Mrs Mary Lanigan, née Halligan, Killure Bridge Nursing Home, Airport Road, Waterford. Formerly of Connolly Place and Ivy Cottage, Upper Grange, Waterford.  

The family would like to thank the staff of the Killure Bridge Nursing Home for the exceptional care shown to Mary.  

Predeceased by her loving husband, Tom and her many brothers and sisters. 

She is survived by her loving sons Pat, Michael and Tom, daughters Maria and Barbara, daughters-in-law Sheila, Helen and Verena, sons-in-law Jan and Nicky, grandchildren Colm, Brian, Kevin, Niall, Elaine, Jan, Emma, Connor and Fiona, great-grandchildren Katie, Leo, Aoife, Daniel, Fiadh, Oscar, Lauren and Oisin, brother Ned, brother-in-law Pakie, sister-in-law Maria, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.  

Mary will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, on Monday, March 23, at 1pm, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner, Waterford. 

Condolences are extended to Mary's family, relatives and friends. 

May she rest in peace.     

Bereavement   

The death has sadly occurred on Saturday, March 21, of Mr Richard (Richie) O’Brien, St. John’s Park, Waterford City, Waterford / Mooncoin, Kilkenny, formerly of Suir Crescent, Mooncoin, County Kilkenny. 

He is survived by his loving parents, Kieran and Kathleen, son Jamie, brothers and Sisters Joseph, Martin, Pamela, Mary, Aileen and Killian, extended family and friends. 

Richard will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family and friends. 

Requiem Mass took place on Thursday, March 26, at 11am, in the Church of the Assumption, Mooncoin. Followed by burial afterwards in the new Cemetery. 

Condolences are extended to Richard's family, relatives and friends. 

May he rest in peace.

Volunteer driver required for delivery of Meals on Wheels in the St. John's Park area. The route would take an hour a week and would require the use of a vehicle.

St Carlo Acutis Retreat   

St. Carlo Acutis Retreat for teens, aged 13-19, The Prayer Centre, Knock Shrine, April 19 from 11am - 2:30pm.

Diocese of Waterford and Lismore Medjugorje Pilgrimage   

As part of the Pope John Paul II Award programme, current parish volunteer, Katelyn, a Transition Year Student in Waterpark College, will travel with the Pilgrimage, which takes place from April 15 to 22. 

Katelyn has kindly offered to bring your petitions with her to Medjugorje. 

Petition cards are available at the main entrance to the church. 

We wish Katleyn well on her journey.

No previous experience is needed. 

The movements are easy to learn and suitable for all ages. We take things step by step in a calm and supportive environment.

Clothes Swap 

Refresh your wardrobe and find something new for you  Europe Direct Waterford, Waterford Council's Climate Action Team and Waterford Libraries are coming together to organise a Clothes Swap on Wednesday, April 15 in Central Library, Lady Lane in Waterford City from 5pm – 6:30pm with clothes drop off from 11am onwards.

This is a free event and all are welcome.

Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre is hosting a Fundraising Bingo Night in the Forum on Tuesday, April 21.
