Local Notes: Beautiful flower displays, sailing, choirs and more news from Dunmore East
Waterford’s Welcome Ambassador, John Aylward, presents a cheque to the RNLI fundraising representative following his guided walking tours of Dunmore village during the summer cruise ship season. Visitors enjoyed an informative tour and meeting locals, while Mary Merritt of Indulge Ice Cream Parlour, Dock Road, treated guests to samples of her homemade products.
All the lovely flower beds in the park and across from Azzurro are a joy to behold. If you go down to the park on a sunny afternoon you'll see plenty of butterflies and bees pollinating the flowers. He is putting a new flower bed across from Azzurro on the hill and adding more in the concrete pots and is also adding more to the existing beds in the park, so if you would like to support this, there is a donation box in McGuire's Garden Centre or if you would like to contact 086 8848761. The choirs in all of our three Churches in Crooke, Killea and Faithlegg would like to encourage all those attending Mass to join with them in singing the hymns, responsorial psalms and parts of the Mass. The choirs are always happy to have new people join them and those interested can speak to the members after Mass. In particular, the Faithlegg Choir would like to have an accompanist so that they can sing on Saturday evenings, mass is at 6.30pm.
In the Carbally Community Centre in October starting on Thursday, October 2, from 7pm for a four-week block there will be Yoga Classes with Fiona, contact number is 085 1628527.
The above have their next RYA VHF Radio Operators Certificate Course and Exam scheduled to run in Dunmore East at Waterford Harbour Sailing club. The Course RYA VHF Radio Operator certificate and exam. The dates are Saturday/Sunday, 25th/26th October 2025. Duration two days at Waterford Harbour Sailing Club, Dunmore East. Coming up on this Tuesday, September 30, is the Annual Primary School Cross Country at the RSC playing fields. Usually it's attended by boys and girls from schools in the Killea /Dunmore East areas with short races for boys and girls from 1st to 6th class. First event 11 am.
