Scout Success

Congratulations to our challenge team winning 3rd place today at the scout county challenge and a place at the phoenix. Also congratulations to our shield team in getting gold standard and winning the cooking and camp craft. Two fantastic teams we are so proud of you all. Lovely weather recently for our first cub camp of the year at Clodagh House, Portlaw. Lots of fun was had by all and preparations are coming along nicely for the county challenge in two weeks' time.

Soccer News

Portlaw Utd 2B league result - Villa 2 Portlaw 1.

We started on the front foot and controlled the first 20 mins and went one up with a screamer from 25 yards, from Luke Walsh. Soon after we lost Mark Morahan to a shoulder injury and Villa pounced with two quick goals. We came out in the second half and threw the kitchen sink at villa, going close when a Luke Walsh header crashed back off the crossbar. The villa keeper was man of the match with save after save in the second half. The second half performance was the best the boys put in all season but unfortunately didn't get what they deserved from the game.

We look out of contention now for league honours but it's not mathematically done yet so we go all-out to win our last two games and see where that leaves us.

Jimmy Searson Ardagh Premier Cup Result - Portlaw 1-0 Villa

Huge result for our premier team recently, sponsored by the Clodagh Bar, with a great win over Villa at the paddock and we advance to the quarter final. We took the lead when a great cross from Peter Woods was flicked on by Luke Woods and Ciaran Kirwan finished at the back post. In the second half we had a couple of great chances to extend the lead through Peter Woods, John Dee and DJ Foran but the Villa keeper pulled off a couple of great saves. Villa missed a penalty right on 90 mins to ensure the all important win and we advanced to the quarter final with an away draw in Ballinroad. Thanks to the Walsh family for their matchday sponsorship.

Ladies football, for all ages, started back last weekend at the Paddock. Let's go ladies.
