Batches of Lidl chicken fillets recalled over presence of Salmonella

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued a recall notice for specific batches of Lidl chicken breast fillet products due to the presence of Salmonella.
Although the implicated batches are past their use-by date, the products are suitable for home freezing, so consumers are advised to check their freezers for the implicated batch.
Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale in Lidl stores, the FSAI said.
The affected products are Lidl's free range 100% Irish chicken breast fillets and its 100% Irish diced chicken breast fillets.

People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between six and 72 hours, the FSAI said.
The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache, and abdominal cramps.
The illness usually lasts four to seven days.
