IN news just in detailed contracts have been signed with the Fawaz Alhokair Group for the redevelopment of the city’s North Quays and Michael Street.

It is expected that a more formal signing and launch will be conducted in the coming weeks. CPO’s have been approved by An Bord Pleanala after 12 months, which means the Council has the clean title of the site required for the development.

The Part 8 public consultation process for the stabilisation of the rock face at the existing train station and road infrastructure is to commence next week.

Meanwhile, the widening of Browne’s Lane and Hennessey’s Road and the demolition of the former WIT building and adjacent properties is expected to start next month. This will mark the first big step in the realisation of the Michael Street Development.
