Waterford’s Munster back-row Jack O’Donoghue (24) has undergone surgery for the knee ligament injury he sustained against Leinster in the Guinness PRO14 semi-final earlier this month.
In a press release this week Munster have indicated that O’Donoghue is expected to follow a ‘long-term rehabilitation programme.’
It is a big blow to the Woodstown man who had a wonderful season with the province and was a regular starter in the back row in all the big games in recent months and looked set to be picked as part of Joe Schmidt’s Ireland squad for the upcoming tour of Australia.
In an Instagram post this week Jack wrote, “Extremely disappointing end to the season. A big thanks to everyone for their well wishes, I’ll be back .”
I’ve no doubt Jack will give everything to his recovery and will come back better than ever. Best of luck with your recovery Jack.
There was better news for Munster yesterday (Thursday) with the news that out-half Joey Carberry will join the club this summer from Leinster, on a two year deal.
