A CITY man who repeatedly stabbed his partner in the face, neck and chest was found guilty of assault causing serious harm at Waterford Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

38-year-old Jamie Coughlan, previously of a Larchville address, was found guilty by a jury of seven men and five women after just half an hour at the conclusion of the three day trial.

During evidence, the court heard that the victim suffered a number of slash wounds including a 10cm laceration from just beneath her right eye across the cheek to the bridge of her nose.

In a statement made to the Gardaí after she had exited hospital days later, the victim said: “I was really petrified he was going to kill me and the look on his face told me.”
