A familiar face is back in the winners’ enclosure at the Park Hotel Waterford Sports Award as Cappagh jockey, Tom Queally, has been named as the winner for the month of June.
Queally is the only person to have won the overall Park Hotel Waterford Sports Star Award three times and he’s delighted to be back amongst the monthly award winners.
The Cappagh jockey rode James Fanshawe trained, The Tin Man, to victory in the Group One Diamond Jubilee Stakes on the final day (Saturday) of the world famous Royal Ascot meeting. This is one of the biggest races of the week with a first prize of £340,000. It was Tom’s 25th group one winner. This win gives Tom the distinction of taking the lead in the horse racing category in the Park Hotel Monthly Awards. This is Tom’s seventh monthly award which puts him one ahead of David Casey and Henry de Bromhead.
