Kilcohan Park – Saturday April 1st

The final of the Barking Buzz A2 sweepstake held centre stage on a nine race card. Taking a flyer from trap five Starbucks Star 3/1 made short work of the opposition. Leading around the first bend as Ride The Tiger and Lemon Debbie were in all sorts of trouble ‘Starbucks’ made the long dash for home. Sound Boy gave chase down the back but ‘Starbucks’ was not for catching obliging by two and a half lengths in a best ever 28.60.
Race 1, A1 525: Despite being in the wars throughout Ballyhi Bucko 2/1 produced a battling display to triumph in 28.92. With Show Bizzy and Ballyhi Bucko hampering one another around the first bend Annacurra Sam set sail for home. Racing room was at a premium over the final two bends and just three lengths separated the quintet at the winning line as ‘Ballyhi’ battled his way back into the lead to deny Show Bizzy by a neck with Hatfield Belle and ‘Annacurra’ just behind.
Race 2, A2 525: Former Munster Oaks winner Jaytee Dakota 3/1 returned to her old stomping ground to register a fluent success in a best of night 28.52. Exiting trap four at a fair rate of knots ‘Jaytee’ never saw another rival en route to a cosy three lengths defeat of Strictly Private.
Race 3, A3 525: A slick starting Sparta Dynamo 5/2 recorded back to back victories for owner John Fitzgerald and trainer Philip Gough with relative ease in 28.90. In a one sided affair from the outset ‘Sparta’ led from Arrigle Champ with five and a half lengths eventually separating the pair at the winning line.
Race 4, S3/S5 325: Jumbos Joleen made a brave bid to lead all the way but with the winning line in sight was collared in the dying strides by a fast finishing Skyview Flash. ‘Skyview’ had a neck to spare over ‘Jumbos’ after the pair bumped in the home stretch. Time 17.97.
Race 5, A4 525: Angel Holly 5/4 registered a pillar to post victory in 28.96. Quickly into her stride ‘Angel’ led early on from Whiteys Sambo before proving a length and a half to good for a running on Mild And Misty.
Race 6, A2 525: In a close run contest Toker Rio 4/5 emerged victorious in 29.23. Getting the better early on of Coco Princess ‘Toker’ survived a third bend bump before racing on to a deserved length defeat of a staying on Glenbervie Anne.
Race 7, A2 525: See introduction.
Race 8, A4 525: Swift Spice held the early call but gave way on the back stretch to Monroe Beag. Owned by Jimmy Frisby ‘Monroe’ 3/1 was never in any subsequent danger of losing out deservedly opening her account at the fourth time of asking by two and a half lengths from Kingsmill Rio in a best ever 29.11.
Race 9, A3 525: Coming away in front the Tim Moylan and Leo Dunphy owned Kikis Beauty 7/4 made every stride a winning one in 29.06. Lifes Queenie challenged up the inside of ‘Kikis’ at the third bend but closing the gap on the fence ‘Kikis’ kicked again racing on to a length and a half defeat of Eskes Ace.
