Kilcohan Park – Saturday March 18th

An eleven race card showcased four first round heats of the Barking Buzz A2 Sweepstake. It was the lucky last however which produced the fastest winner on view with the Philip Lynch owned early paced Toker Forest 3/1 defeating a decent line up leading all the way in a sizzling 28.44. Jumeirah Larry gave chase throughout but a determined ‘Toker’ was not for catching obliging by a length and a half.
Race 1, A5 525: The Darren and Norman James owned Swift Spice opened her account at odds of 3/1 producing a pillar to post winning display in 29.49. Seeing off a second bend challenge by Knockstown Lady and a third bend challenge by Zip Express ‘Swift’ kept on well to deny the latter by two and a half lengths.
Race 2, A4 525: Trainer Peter Cronin sent out the following three race winners and the first of his runners Jetts Lad 4/6 made every stride a winning one in 29.09. Firing himself into an early lead over Kellsboro Zara ‘Jetts’ saw the trip out well to defeat Seagrave Jack by two lengths. The winner is owned by Swindon based Stephen Carroll.
Race 3, A6/A7 525: The Liam Walsh owned Angry Boy 1/1 made a winning debut in a decent 28.90. Forging into an early lead over the close running pair of Brykar Anyhassle and Curly Lips ‘Angry’ was never in any danger of defeat coming home four and a half lengths clear of Curly Lips.
Race 4, A7/A9 525: The Christopher Keohan owned Finding Dora the red hot 4/7 favourite made short work of the opposition on her debut making every stride a winning one in a speedy 28.83. Gliding into an early lead over Posh Buttons ‘Finding’ never saw another rival breezing in eleven lengths clear of ‘Posh’.
Race 5, A2 525: Heat one of the A2 event saw the Michael Dunphy owned and Pat Buckley trained Droopys Florenzi 6/4 run out a clear cut winner in a career best 28.67. The winner did well to avoid general crowding on the run up accelerating into a first bend lead. Stir Yourself raced in second place throughout but was no match for ‘Droopys’ who won out by nine and a half lengths.
Race 6, A2 525: Heat two went all the way to the wire. A slick starting Emers Chance and Ballybough Mondo locked horns up front but as the qualifier wore on the Denny Lennon owned and bred Lemon Debbie 5/2 closed in on the leaders. Coming between the front runners ‘Lemon’ timed her effort to perfection to eventually outstay ‘Ballybough’ by a head with ‘Emers’ a neck away in third. Time 29.08.
Race 7, A2 525: In the penultimate qualifier just over half a length separated the first three home. Ride The Tiger came to join the front running Genuine Hero between the final two bends but as the leaders rubbed shoulders Starbucks Star 5/2 secured a clear passage up the rails to run out a half a length winner over Ride The Tiger in 28.99. Badger Daly finished well for third place. David Flanagan trains the winner for Scottish owner Alex Callachan.
Race 8, A2 525: The concluding heat saw the Delahunty Syndicate owned Bigwood Pitstop 3/1 run out a gritty and deserving winner in 29.00. Getting the better of a lengthy back stretch duel with Sound Boy ‘Bigwood’ dug deep close home to hold the late charge of Tycoon Prince by three quarters of a length.
Race 9, A6 525: The Kevin O’Gorman owned Safe As Houses 5/2 returned to winning form making every stride a winning one in 29.34. Jug Of Punch gave chase throughout but ‘Safe’ proved full value for a three and a half lengths success.
Race 10, A4 525: Track newcomer Angel Holly made a gallant attempt to lead all the way but she was denied close home by 6/4 shot Genuine Bling. Owned by Tina Finn and trained by her husband Willie ‘Genuine’ finished with a flourish to outstay ‘Angel’ by three quarters of a length in 29.06.
