Waterford’s Seamus Power this week made his fourth start on the PGA Tour, playing in the OHL Classic at the El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mayakoba, Mexico. On day one he opened with a three under par round of 68 as he got up and down five times out of six for par and also made four birdies to finish the day in a tie for 20th.
On the second day Seamus started on the 10th and had two birdies and two bogeys on his opening nine but came home in 31 with birdies at the first and second followed by three on the spin from the five. He had a five under 66 for the day to get into a tie for 11th at the halfway stage on -8.
On Saturday he birdied the 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th to go out in 32, he then came back in 32 with further birdies at the 10th, 13th and 14th. This gave the West Waterford man a 64 for the day and saw him on finish 15 under par for the tournament and right in the mix in a tie for fourth.
Sunday did not go Seamus’ way, but this did not deter him. A triple bogey seven at the first was a terrible start but he kept it to two over for the rest of the round to finish on 76 to finish the tournament in a tie for 28th on -10.
All this means that Seamus has now earned $86,973 this season on the PGA Tour which sees him lie in 91st position. On the FexEx Cup rankings he has climbed up from 110th last week to 82nd after Sunday on 48 points.
Seamus is back in action this coming weekend when he tees it up at the RSM Classic at the Sea Island Resort on Sea Island in Georgia.
