Kilcohan Park – Saturday September 3rd

Willie and Tina Finn had a night to remember as they enjoyed a treble with their runners bearing the ‘Genuine’ prefix. They captured the opening two contests with Genuine Honey 5/4 and Genuine Lady 2/1 both of these ladies making every yard of the running to capture their respective races in 28.91 and 31.70. The icing on the cake came in the first semi-final of the 2016 Noel Ryan, Tree Surgeon, Munster Oaks with 4/1 chance Genuine Pearl posting an exciting front running success in 28.46. Airmount Tess was bearing down on ‘Pearl’ in the closing stages but she dug deep to triumph by a neck with the always prominent Ballymac Scala just behind in third.

Race 4, NO 525: The second qualifier saw Hatfield Hammer 2/1 come from behind to win going away in 28.83. Led by both Knockeevan Grove and Global Sapphire ‘Hatfield’ did well to drive up the inside of the two leaders near the home turn before racing on to a two and a half lengths defeat of ‘Knockeevan’.
Race 5, A3 525: In the first semi-final of the Wonderly Wagon A3 event the Leo Dunphy and Tim Moylan owned Sunset Girl the 4/5 market leader had to work overtime before scoring in 29.18. The Gerry Kiely owned Airmount Zeus 6/4 was always in a challenging position however and bringing his stamina into play he pounced close home to get the better of ‘Telex’ by a length in 28.97.
Race 7, AAO 525: First semi-final of the Munster Oaks – see introduction.
Race 8, AAO 525: In the second semi-final of the Munster Oaks Skywalker Rossa 5/2 won a thriller in 28.34. The early paced Ballintee Annie appeared to have stolen a march on her rivals but ‘Skywalker’ timed her effort to perfection coming through for a neck win over ‘Ballintee’.
