Kilcohan Park – Saturday May 28th

While her half brother Jaytee Jet was qualifying for the final of the English Greyhound Derby Genuine Honey 4/1 recorded back to back victories in a best of night 28.71. Owned by Tina Finn and trained by her husband Willie the early paced ‘Genuine’ was in the firing line throughout race eight and did well to see off the late charge of a slow starting Druids El Nino by a neck.
Race N1/N2 525: The Jonathan Walsh owned You Little Una 4/5 created a favourable impression capturing the opening novice affair with plenty to spare in a lively 28.82. Shaking off the early challenge of Rosegarland Pink ‘You’ cut loose down the back stretch going well clear for a facile seven lengths defeat of Archaton Honey.
Race 2, A7 525: The Patrick Hearne owned Husky Kingo 4/1ended a losing run with a deserved pillar to post success in a career best 29.18. Motoring into an early lead ‘Husky’ was never in any danger of losing out coming home all of seven and a half lengths clear of Carrigeen Tot.
Race 3, A7 525: Overcoming a slow start and a first bend bump the Derek Hanlon owned Rosegarland Troy 3/1 made a winning debut in 29.02. Toker Lord and Flaming Princess were prominent early on but when ‘Rosegarland’ went into overdrive on the back stretch this contest was over as a spectacle. ‘Rosegarland’ in the finish cruised to a five and a half lengths defeat of ‘Toker’.
Race 4, A4 525: Stripe Lucy, Kuda Road and Marwood Jackal were prominent throughout this close run contest. It was Marwood Jackal 3/1 who produced the superior burst of finishing pace up the inside to defeat ‘Kuda’ by half a length in 29.15.
Race 5, A2 525: Town Shadow 3/1 put her early pace to good use making every stride a winning one in a lifetime best 28.91. Leading early on from Tuco Lilly ‘Town’ did well to hold at bay the late run of Genuine Lady by three quarters of a length.
Race 6, A3 525: Airmount Kiwi 5/2 owned by Gerry Kiely coped well with a rise in grade leading throughout in 29.01. Seeing off the back stretch challenge of Team Will ‘Airmount’ went on to score a shade cosily by two lengths from Jimmy The Liar.
Race 7, A2 525: Annacurra Jet showed in front from the break but coming out of the second bend Coyote Sea and Shan Paddy locked horns in the lead. ‘Coyote’ 3/1 eventually got the better of that argument staying on strongly to defeat a running on Ashfield King by a length and a half in 28.84.
Race 8, A1 525: See introduction.
Race 9, A0/A1 525: In a close run lucky last Jacks Asuperstar and Classy Opinion took each other on from the outset. After a titanic struggle the Matthew Scurry owned Classy Opinion 3/1 quickened on the run to the winning line to account for ‘Jacks’ by half a length in a speedy 28.78.
Going rating. Standard.
