Rival captains, Ken McGrath and Alan Reynolds get to know each other this week.

The final preparations are this week being made for the Waterford United Stars versus Waterford Hurling Legends soccer match which will take place at the RSC on this coming Saturday, February 2 at 7pm in aid of the Save Ryan and Ethan Appeal.

It promises to be a brilliant night for all the family with loads to do for people of all ages, including face painters and entertainment for the kids. The Phenomonon Hip Hop troupe from Tramore will provide the pre-match entertainment, while the Torann Drummers will keep the crowd entertained at the half-time interval.

The news from both camps is that they are both preparing very hard for the game and the rivalry between the rival managers, Alan Reynolds and Ken McGrath, is hotting up by the day. Both captains and managers have trawled through their contacts book to bring some sporting stars to the RSC. Alan Reynolds has secured the services of Irish soccer legend and former Waterford United manager, Paul McGrath as well as a host of former RSC favourites and Superbike star Brian McCormack. The United stars will be managed by Celebrity Bainisteoir’s Richie Hayes.

Not to be outdone, Déise hurling great Ken McGrath and his manager, Jim Greene, have assembled a cast of some of the greatest ever Waterford hurlers, like Fergal Hartley, John Mullane, Paul Flynn and Dan Shanahan as well as going across the border for some Rebel greats like Sean Og O’hAilpín, Joe Deane and Diarmuid O’Sullivan.

There will also be a raffle on the night for two tickets to Man. United versus Chelsea on May 4 with ¤350 spending money and also on offer will be two tickets to this year’s All-Ireland hurling final in Croke Park. After the game over 18s are welcome to join the players from the game at the Kazbar where the raffle will take place.
