AS the saying goes every cloud has a silver lining and one man’s misfortune is another’s opportunity.
Seeing a gap in the market and filling it has provided a new business opportunity for local woman, Evelyn Byrne, who recently established Persona Effective Communications Skills.
The business venture located on the Dunmore Road has been launched to help job seekers differentiate themselves in the newly emerging competitive labour market.
With the latest CSO figures showing 33,734 on the Live Register in the South East in October Ms. Byrne says many people are daunted as they face what may be their first competitive job interview for many years. “With so many people losing jobs they have been in for anything from five to 30-plus years, there is a significant cohort of people seeking alternative employment in a very tight labour market where competition for roles is the fiercest it has been for a generation. For those who haven’t been before an inter-view panel for many years - often since shortly after they left school - this can be an intimidating prospect,” she said.
Persona Effective Communication Skills works with individuals in strict confidence and has also been engaged by employers reducing their workforce as they provide job-seeking support to those losing their jobs. Further information is available from evelyn.byrne@persona.ie or by calling 051-878 871.
