Another Fitzgibbon classic as NUIG edge out WIT
NUI GALWAY 1-17 WATERFORD IT 1-16 It looked like being a repeat of the epic final of two years ago in Bishopstown when, in an extraordinary game, WIT captured the Fitzgibbon Cup for the ninth time with a dramatic last gasp win, at the end of two sessions of extra time, over Limerick IT on Saturday last, in Galway’s Pearse Stadium, the game seemed set to follow the same path only this time it was the Waterford side that was overhauled and taken into extra time.

Blues record an impressive derby victory
AN impressive opening night performance from Waterford United helped them to top place in the Airtricity League of Ireland First Division as the home side raced to an easy 3-0 victory against Wexford Youths in the South East derby at the RSC on Friday night last.

Waterford hold out against Longford for second draw

WATERFORD 0-10 LONGFORD 1-07 Having failed to score after Brian Wall’s 43rd minute point put them into a two point lead, Waterford could be considered lucky to have held on for a draw against a Longford side that dominated possession for the remainder of the game but were guilty of some dreadful finishing as their forwards amassed a total of eight second half wides to Waterford’s two.
