Crisis talks held with banks

DAIRY farmers haven’t escaped the recession and along with every other industry, agriculture also entered crisis talks with the banks.

With no immediate upward turn in milk price, the ICMSA convened a meeting with representatives from banks, co-ops and agricultural advisory and consultancy stakeholders to discuss credit, loans and possible widespread rescheduling or deferral.

Smith welcomes increased export refunds for dairy products

THE Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Brendan Smith TD, has welcomed the decisions to increase export refunds for butter, skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder and to accept into intervention all quantities of butter and skimmed milk powder offered, while maintaining the intervention purchase prices.  more >
