CULPRITS in balaclavas stole a sum of money during an aggravated burglary in Co Waterford last night.

A couple, aged in the 60s and 70s, were in their home, alongside their shop located in Clonea Power when the incident occurred at around 9pm. They were left shaken as a result.

Gardaí and the Regional Support Unit responded to the scene. However, the suspects made their escape in a vehicle that drove in an unknown direction.

An incident room has been set up in Tramore Garda Station. Anyone with information or who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between 8.30pm and 10.30pm are asked to contact the Station on (051)391620.

Local Councillor and Cathaoirleach for the Comeragh district, Seanie Power was shocked that something like this happened in his community. He said the incident has caused a “shiver of fear” among the elderly in the community. He urged people to report any suspicious activity to Gardaí.
