Local winners
Fakenham – 11/2 chance Mamoo was a ninth winner of the season for Trevor Whelan.
Market Rasen – Sean Houlihan obliged on 6/5 hot pot Crucial Moment.
Clonmel – Game Of War was a 9/2 winner for Henry De Bromhead and Dylan Robinson.
Sedgefield – Sean Houlihan enjoyed an armchair ride on the 1/1 favourite Contented. This was a landmark success for Philip Hobbs the trainer of Contented as it meant he trained a winner at every National Hunt track in Britain.
Chepstow – Mikey Hamill guided 10/11 favourite Rhaegar to a dead heat for 1st place.
Punchestown – 3/1 shot Avenir Dune Vie was an all the way winner for Henry De Bromhead.
United Hunt Point – Declan Queally steered Siege Of Tobruk to victory while Ballyduff Upper trainer Pat O Connor combined with Tallow pilot James Hannon to score with Sullane Hill.

Former jump jockey turned trainer Christian Williams is a nephew of former Welsh and Lions capped rugby player Gareth Williams.
John Francome was asked recently did he ever look back on the video replays of his big victories. He replied, one day I might sit down when I’ve got nothing else to do, but I’m just too busy now. I’m a full-time gardener, dogsbody, builder, maintenance man at the Beechdown stables I own where Clive Cox trains and I ride out every day for Clive. Pulled up in his last two races Coneygree underwent a minor breathing procedure last week.

Costly Fine
UK trainer Richard Hannon was fined £8,000 for a fourth positive for Tramadol in 2 years. The horse in question was De Bruyne Horse who scored at Epson in June.

Equine Fatalities
Free One was a Plumpton fatality while trainer Sam Drinkwater (26) lost his stable star Tour Des Champs (10) to a bout of colic. Sir Valentino was a Sandown casualty.

Navan Ban And Fine
The Navan stewards were not impressed with the running and riding of The Monks Kitchen. Jockey John Fitzpatrick received a 15 days ban. Trainer PG Coffey was fined €2,000 and the horse banned from racing for 42 days.

Claim Gone
Jump jockey JJ Slevin rode out his claim after scoring on Us And Them at Punchestown. At the same fixture the stewards gave him a 5 days whip ban.

Jockey Retirees
Willy Twiston Davies (23) who recovered from back and rib injuries sustained at Cheltenham last March has quit the saddle. He will concentrate on the bloodstock side of things and may in time take over the training reins from his dad Nigel. As a jockey Willy rode over 200 flat and jump winners. Wight issues have caused Steven Clements to hang up his saddle aged 31.

Recent Sales
Crack Group 1 winning sprinter Marsha was sold recently at public auction for 6 million guineas to MV Magnier. She is due to visit Galileo next year. Godolphin paid 3.7 million guineas for Group 1 winner Zhukova who is set to visit Dubawi.

Recent Death
Former English trainer Peter Walwyn died last week aged 84. One of his best ever horses was Grundy.

Hayley In The Dock
Hayley Turner is facing a BHA inquiry this week having placed 164 bets on her on line account over an 18 months period while still a licensed rider.

Toast Of New York Back
Toast Of New York who covered 15 mares in Doha with 10 scanning in foal returned to winning action after a three years absence at Lingfield last week.

Winning Owner’s Comment
After Apples Jade captured the Grade 1 Hattons Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse winning owner Michael O Leary said ‘I genuinely believe the 7 pounds mares allowance is wrong and shouldn’t be there’. I wonder if his mare was beaten a short head would be have felt the same?
