AIB are proud sponsors of Ferrybank Athletic Club for over 14 years and are proud to have this long standing relationship with the club which is an integral part of Waterford Sports. Galbally Co Tipperary was the venue on Sunday last for a Munster Cross Country Championship fixture and Waterford athletes did very well in the underage section, winning several individual and team medals. Best performance of the day came from Matteo Mary Waterford AC as he won the u17 title very impressively, brother and sister Eoin and Caoimhe Prendergast West Waterford were not far behind him as both finished second in their races under 9 and u 13 respectively in large fields, Anna O’Connor Waterford was third in the under 19 grade ,one place in front of her twin sister Anna, other fourth placings went to Hugo Blair Waterford u 19, Una O’Brien Tramore u 17,David Gaffney u 11 and Tommy Fennell u 15 both West Waterford and Rory Fennell a twin brother of Tommy was 5 th u 15, and Cian O’Riordan also West Waterford was 6 th u17. The following had 8 th placings Aidan Burke u 17,Ruth Heery u 19 both Waterford , Niall Blackwell West Waterford u 19 and Aoife Redmond Ferrybank u15, 9th placings went to Kyla Flavin u 9,David Nyhan u11, both West Waterford, Jake Coffey Waterford u13 and Niamh Mc Grath KCK u 9 the following were 10 th in their races,Conor Sheils Waterford u 19, Oisin O’Riordan West Waterford u15, Isobelle Cummins u 17, Jake Bagge u 17, Emily Goff u 19, all Ferrybank Luke Brennan Waterford was 11 th u 17 and Mollie Hutchinson 12 th u 19. In the Inter Club team section Waterford won the girls u 19 and were second in the boys u 17 and girls u 17 and third in the boys u 19,West Waterbird had three second placings Boys u 11,u15 and u 17 and a third with their girls u 17 while Ferrybank had a second in the girls u 19 and a third in the boys 17. In the Inter County team section Waterford won the girls u 19, and were second in the boys u 19 boys u 15 ,boys u 17 and third in the girls u 17.

Good Run in USA by Barry Keane
Last week end in Terra Haute, Indiana USA Barry Keane Waterford AC currently on a scholarship in Butler University Indianapolis had a good run in the Great Lakes Regional NCAA Cross Country Qualifiers. He finished 12th in a field of 187 in 31 minutes 19 seconds, the race being won in 30.54 by a Canadian athlete Ben Flanagan representing Michigan University, in the team competition butler finished 7th of the 26 teams competing and Barry missed out by one place to make the National finals.

Munster Fixture in County Cork
Another Munster Cross Country Championship fixture takes place on Sunday next in Riverstick Co. Cork starting at 11.30am, the village is between Cork City and Kinsale. On the programme are the men’s and women’s Master’s Championships as well as the Juvenile Inter Club relays under 10, 12, 14 and 16. Waterford will be represented in some of the events.

Beat the Train 10 Miles
The Beat The Train 10 miles is on next Saturday, November 18th at 10am along the Waterford Greenway from the Railway station in Kilmeaden in past Mount Congreve, WIT Carriganore, The Dan Donovan Tunnel and on towards Bilberry where all will turn around for the return journey to Kilmeaden. Event in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland Waterford and Sth Kilkenny. Entries closed but check website for official transfer option only.

Old Parish Annual Turkey Trot
On Sunday next the 9th Annual Paddy joe Curran Old Parish Turkey Trot 5 Miles run and 4 Miles Walk will be held outside Dungarvan at 12 noon. Event HQ, Marine Bar, Youghal Road Dungarvan. All proceeds to Solas Cancer Support Centre

Sunday week 26th November, All-Ireland Senior and Junior Cross Country Championships plus the Juvenile Even Ages U-12, 14, 16, 18,Abbotstown, Dublin
