Waterford’s Seamus Power is in a tie for tenth after an excellent opening round of 68 at the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour in Jackson, Mississippi.

His four under total after round leaves him just two shots off the leaders heading into the final 54 holes as he bids to get the season off to the best possible start.

Starting on the tenth he made the turn in 35 shots (one under) but three birdies and no dropped shots on his back nine ensured he finished on -4 and a round of 68.

The Touraneena man gets his second round underway at 6.58pm this evening (Friday) Irish time and is playing today with Americans Tyler Duncan and Daniel Summerhays.
