Comeragh Oil I.H.C. Final –
An Rinn 0-23, Cappoquin 3-11
With the issue decided long before the 60th minute of this Western Intermediate Hurling decider two goals in time added on by Cappoquin were never going to make any difference or take from what was a very impressive performance by a well drilled An Rinn side that will go on to bid for a first county title in this grade since 2013.
This was a game dominated by the Gaeltacht men from the start with midfielder and former county senior panellist Donie Breathnach turning in a master class in midfield and account for ten of his side’s points, four of which came from open play. In that regard he was well supported by his fellow county footballer Fergal O’Cuirin at corner forward who kept the Cappoquin defence at full stretch over the hour reeling off five points from play.
With both players on song An Rinn led by 0-11 to 0-5 at half time with all of the Cappoquin scores coming from placed balls by Shane O’Rourke. In deed it was not until the 40th minute that Cappoquin scored from play and again it was from the stick of O’Rourke who continued to be his side’s only threat in attack.
An Rinn were leading comfortably by 0-20 to 0-11 when Tommy McCarthy scored what was a consolation goal for Cappoquin in the 57th minute. An Rinn went on to score three further points before late goals by Keith Landers and Paul Murray gave the scoreboard a flattering look.

The Local Bar J.H.C. Final
Ardmore 3-11, St. Marys1-15
In the earlier Junior ‘A’ hurling decider Ardmore came with a late surge to seize the title having played second fiddle to a fine St Marys side for almost the whole hour. The Tourneena side did all the hurling in the first half but fell behind after a deflected goal by Kieran Conway from a free by Seamus Prendergast and another by John Gartland and set up by Prendergast gave Ardmore a fortunate 2-4 to 1-6 lead. St. Marys hit back however with points from earlier goal scorer Eoin Kearns to go in at halftime with a 1-8 to 2-4 lead.
In the second half the Tourneena side continued to dominate the play and had moved into a 1-11 to 2-4 lead when Ardmore’s county minor James Flavin soloed right through a slack Marys defence to bury the ball in the net against the run of play. That score lifted Ardmore and they had the better of things going into the closing stages, outscoring their opponents by seven points to four with substitute Stephen Keating contributing two points from play though the sides were level on two further occasions. The issue was decided by late points from Stephen Keating and Seamus Prendergast from play.
