Kilcohan Park – Saturday June 10th

A nine race card contained heats of two more sweepstakes kindly sponsored by Bolands Citroen. Trainers Peter Cronin, Mooncoin (3) and David Flanagan Fethard, (2) accounted for five of the nine winners on view.
Race 1, A2 525: In the opening contest Upward Sonic 3/1 recorded his second success at the venue making all the running in a best ever 28.87. Leading early on from the close running pair of Longslip Bobby and Ardera Les ‘Upward’ saw the trip out well to account for a running Sunset Girl by a length and a half.
Race 2, A4 550: The following three races were heats of an A4 event. The opening qualifier saw the Peter Cronin trained Fleeting Nicko the 4/5 favourite run riot over the opposition in a speedy 30.04. Easing his way into an early lead over Call Me Rocket ‘Fleeting’ basically won unchallenged by seven lengths from Mikey Blue.
Race 3, A4 550: Heat two saw Kuda Ross scamper into an early lead over Hang Sandwich. Gradually hauling himself into contention however the Jim Gray owned and Michael Meade trained Ride The Tiger the 1/1 favourite hit the front between the final two bends on the fence. ‘Ride’ kept on well in the lead to outstay ‘Kuda’ by two and a half lengths. Time 30.20.
Race 4, A4 550: The concluding heat saw Godmother make a gallant attempt to lead all the way but as this heat wore on All At Cain 3/1 closed in on the leader. In an exciting finish ‘All’ produced the stronger finishing kick to come through for a length success over Godmother in 30.31.
Race 5, A3 525: Owner Aidan Comerford and trainer Peter Cronin combined forces to capture the opening two heats of the A3 event with litter brothers Jazz Magic 5/4 and Jazz Tune 4/5 both producing identical pillar to post winning efforts. ‘Jazz’ was first into action and he made every stride a winning one coming home two and a half lengths clear of the always well placed Lemon Ollie in a smart 28.60.
Race 6, A3 525: Heat two saw Jazz Tune go nine spots quicker making every post a winning one in a best of night 28.51. Leading early on from Durango the early paced ‘Jazz’ hit the winning line one and a half lengths clear of a staying on Soul.
Race 7, A3 525: The penultimate qualifier saw Vancouver City make good use of his early pace to lead from Pronto Tank and Kingsmill Flo. It was all change up front in the home stretch however as Pronto Tank 2/1 came through to defeat ‘Kingsmill’ by half a length with the long time leader ‘Vancouver’ just behind in third. Time 29.06.
Race 8, A3 525: Heat four saw the early paced Dysert Cooper lead to near the third bend. The Power Racing Syndicate owned Running Wild 4/1 hit the front at that stage on the fence before racing on to a cosy four lengths defeat of ‘Dysert’ in 28.87.
Race 9, A1 525: In the lucky last Hungerofthepine was out in front for a long period but bringing his proven stamina into play Jolly Boozer 5/2 began to eat into the leaders advantage. ‘Jolly’ finished off his race really well to deny Hungerofthepine by two lengths in a lively 28.59.
