Kilcohan Park – Friday December 30th

Local owner Catherine Tuohy ended the season on a high enjoying a nice double courtesy of debutantes Whiteys Twix 2/1 and Whiteys Ginger 5/2. Showing plenty of early speed Whiteys Twix got the better of an early exchange with Ballybawn Holly before proving two lengths to good for a running on Kingsmill Rio in 29.52. ‘Twix’s’ litter sister Whiteys Ginger left traps smartly making every stride a winning one accounting for a slow starting but staying on Moanduff Lass by a length in 29.75.
Race 1, A3 525: The Morgan Pender owned and Philip Gough trained Hawks Bay 6/4 recorded her fourth success in just her sixth race outing leading throughout in 29.01. Making light of her trap six draw ‘Hawks’ led early on from Tagalong Roisin before proving three lengths to good for a running on Kellsboro Tommy.
Race 2, N1/N2 525: See introduction.
Race 3, A5 525: This contest was a messy affair. Kingsmill Manuka 3/1 shook off the back stretch challenge of Rough Resistance before interfering with a challenging Slippark Saki off the home turn. At the winning line ‘Kingsmill’ had a short head to spare over an unlucky ‘Slippark’ in 29.85.
Race 4, A8/A10 525: Posh Pluto 1/1 and Tycoon Flower locked horns throughout shooting well clear of the remainder. Gradually gaining the upper hand ‘Posh’ stayed on best when it mattered most to emerge victorious by three lengths in 29.57.
Race 5, N2 525: See introduction.
Race 6, A6 525: This four-bender is easily described as Metric Diva 5/2 made every post a winning one in 29.53. Seeing off the persistent back stretch challenge of Avalon Bear ‘Metric’ eventually hit the winning line a length and a half clear of Ballycown Ann.
Race 7, A2 525: The Paul Quilty owned Reality Expects 3/1 made short work of a decent line up powering to a sound early paced success in a career best time of 28.77. The opposition only ever had a rear end view of ‘Reality’ as he cruised to a well deserved three and a lengths victory over Glenbrook View.
Race 8, A4 525: Local trainer Peter Cronin sent out the winners of the following two races. Champagne Doll 1/1 gave a challenging Sanfrancisco Sky a friendly bump at the opening turn before galloping on to a two and a half lengths win in 29.25.
Race 9, A2 525: Global Sapphire justified odds of 4/5 with a pleasing early paced victory in a decent 28.85. Easing her way into an early lead over Rosegarland Pink ‘Global’ was never in any danger of losing out thereafter breezing in five lengths clear of ‘Rosegarland’.
Race 10, A1 525: Fittingly the final race of the year produced the fastest return of the session with the Sidarian Syndicate owned and Willie Finn trained Sidarian Pixie 1/1 hacking up in a smashing 28.62. Shaking off the early challenge of Daring Tavern ‘Sidarian’ shot clear for a facile four and a half lengths success over Airmount Zeus.
