A proposal for a 7.5% increase in Local Property Tax was shot down by Waterford City and County Councillors.

CEO Michael Walsh proposed the increase at this afternoon’s meeting in Dungarvan. He said to maintain the same level of service for 2017 as in the current year, the Council will need to find an additional €1.3m based on information available to them. The alternative course is for the Council to reduce investment and level of service over the current year. Cllr James Tobin, seconded by MJ O Ryan, proposed to leave the rates the same. Following a vote this proposal was carried.
