The Bolands Citroen, Waterford festival of racing continued with five finals decided on a ten race card. The opening graded contest however produced the fastest winner on view with Toker Forest 3/1 routing the opposition getting off the mark in a blistering 28.48. ‘Toker’ bounded into an early lead over Shan Paddy and Jimbobjoe. Jimbobjoe came with a late charge but had no chance of catching ‘Toker’ who prevailed by three lengths.
Race 1, A3 525: See introduction.
Race 2, S4/S5 325: Trainer Willie Finn had a profitable session sending out three consecutive winners. Narabane Black 2/1 owned by Gerard Langan did not get off to the best of starts but when crowding took place between the bends ‘Narabane’ accelerated quickly to contest the lead with Key Pass. Staying on strongly thereafter ‘Narabane’ went on to deny ‘Key’ by a length and a half in 18.07.
Race 3, A5/A6 525: The Tina Finn owned Genuine Lady rattled off a hat trick of victories obliging at odds of 4/1 in 29.04. Getting the better early on of Sunset Jet, Barro Pee Jay and Marwood Jackal ‘Genuine’ set sail for home. Maintaining a strong gallop at the head of affairs ‘Genuine’ went on to account for Marwood Jackal by three and a half lengths.
Race 4, S1/S2 325: Genuine Pearl 2/1 owned by Tina Finn made short work of the opposition winning out in an excellent 17.59. Manners Legend threatened briefly early on but lengthening her stride ‘Genuine’ hit the winning line all of four lengths clear of a running on Nans Lucky.
Race 5, A4 525: Cougar Dawn and Outlier Lively locked horns up front for a long period. 5/2 chance ‘Cougar’ brought her stamina into play in the final quarter scooting clear for a cosy four lengths success over ‘Outlier’ in 28.58.
Race 6, A2/A3 525: In the first semi-final of the A2/A3 stake Kilgraney Hazel 5/2 timed her effort to perfection to triumph in 28.68. Annacurra Jet made a bold attempt to make all the running but was run out of it close home by a rails running ‘Kilgraney’ who prevailed by half a length.
Race 7, A2/A3 525: The second qualifier saw Berkey 6/4 doing the business in a slick 28.53. The early paced Berkey led throughout from Tagalong Roy with two and a half lengths separating the pair at the winning post.
Race 8, A4 525: Alien Lander 6/4 made the best possible start to lead all the way in a speedy 28.56. After a poor start Ballydaniel Ash ran well to move into second spot but there was no catching a fleet footed ‘Alien’ who went on to triumph by all of five and a half lengths.
Race 9, A1 525: Ballybough Oz was the only clear market leader to oblige this 6/4 chance scoring with relative ease in 28.74. The early pace of ‘Ballybough’ carried him into an early lead and while Ashfield King stayed on dourly in the closing stages ‘Ballybough’ emerged victorious by three and a half lengths.
Race 10, A2 525: The final race saw Stripe Henry 5/2 score in 28.82. Getting the better early on of Mixed Society ‘Stripe’ made the best of his way home. Keeping up the gallop ‘Stripe’ went on to defeat ‘Mixed’ by three and a half lengths.
