THE Health and Safety Authority are this morning continuing their examination at the scene of yesterday’s fatal workplace accident at O’Brien’s Cement at Belview.

The deceased, who was a local in the South East and in his late-20’s, died after falling from a height of approximately 40 feet onto a concrete surface. He had been working on his own at the time at O’Brien Cement at Belview Port and was wearing a safety harness at the time of his death. The HSA believe the man was either welding or cutting at the time of the incident, which occurred at around 3.30pm.

The Gardai were called to the scene at 4.30pm and upon arrival, ambulance staff were performing CPR on the man. He was pronounced dead at 5.20pm.
