AN abandoned jeep at Saleens beach sparked an emergency response from the Gardaí and other services this morning.

The jeep is believed to have been driven onto the backstrand of Saleens some two weeks ago. It appears it was abandoned with the keys in the ignition after it got stuck in mud somewhere between Saleens and Cloughernagh.

However, the sight was of some concern to passers-by. The emergency services including the RNLI and Tramore Coastgaurd were seen wading through the mud to get to the vehicle this morning. It has been confirmed that no one was in danger.
