Kilcohan Park – Saturday March 19th
The Nancy O’Connor owned Whitefort Miley 3/1 was the only four-bend winner to dip under the 29.00 mark coming from behind in race ten to land the spoils in 28.96. Led to the third bend by Jacks Asuperstar ‘Whitefort’ drove into the lead on the fence before staying on stoutly for a four lengths defeat of ‘Jacks’.
Race 1, A7/A8 525: Despatched as the 1/2 hot pot the Damien and Joseph Ryan owned and Philip Gough trained Blindside justified her restricted price to sluice up in 29.34. Forging into a first bend lead Blindside quickly put this race to bed. In a one sided affair Blindside cruised to an eight and a half lengths defeat of Excuse Me who came from behind Neighbours Men to claim second place.
Race 2, S3/S4 325: In a two bend dash the Ben Turner owned and Nick Turner trained Tagalong Tommy made maximum use of his early pace to score in a decent 17.69. Sent off at 2/1 ‘Tagalong’ was in command from the outset eventually crossing the winning line with a length to spare over a running on Eves Jordi.
Race 3, A5 525: All About Will set the early fractions but was headed at the third bed by Jimmy The Liar. Owned by Pat Dobbs debutante ‘Jimmy’ 5/4 was forced to dig deep in the closing stages to repel the renewed challenge of All About Will by half a length with Early To Bed just behind in third. Time 29.33.
Race 4, A6 525: Owned locally by Larry Collopy 2/1 chance Listrolin Josie retuned to winning form with a clear cut success in 29.55. Taking control of matters at the entrance to the back stretch ‘Listrolin’ forged clear down the back before accounting for Sanfrancisco by all of six lengths.
Race 5, A5 525: Just over two lengths separated the first five home. The early paced and long time leader Sleedagh Mac looked the likely winner but he was collared in the dying strides by 3/1 shot Tagalong Dicey. Owned by Dermot Flynn ‘Tagalong’ timed his effort to protection to triumph by three quarters of a length to register a first career win. Time 29.60.
Race 6, A4 525: Coming in as a reserve into trap six the Michael Nolan owned Effernogue Diva made light of her 5/1 starting price making all the running in 29.29. Sprinting into a first bend lead ‘Effornogue’ was soon on her way to winning out. Jennapatholly finished best of the rest but was two and a half lengths in arrears of ‘Effornogue’ where it mattered.
Race 7, A3 525: Defying a trap six draw the Joan O’Connor owned Whitefort Milo 3/1 registered a pillar to post success in 29.16. Accelerating into a clear early lead ‘Whitefort’ was soon on his way to winning out. Recovering from first bend crowding Byemeout kept on well for second spot but had no chance of catching ‘Whitefort’ who scored by five and a half lengths.
Race 8, A4 525: Just three lengths separated the sextet here with the spoils going to the James Flynn owned Rathbally Tank who prevailed in 29.60. Showing good early pace 5/2 chance ‘Rathbally’ soon had his rivals on the back foot. In a pulsating finish however ‘Rathbally’ did well to protect his lead scoring by three quarters of a length from the always prominent Golden Rebel.
Race 9, A3 525: A slick starting Pinewood Diva 5/2 made no mistake utilising her early pace to make every stride a winning one in 29.07. Seeing off a second bend challenge by Alien Jane the Eamon Moore owned ‘Pinewood’ was soon on her way to winning out. Relishing her front running role ‘Pinewood’ went on to account for a slow starting Kingsmill Haven by four and a half lengths.
Race 10, A2 525: See introduction.
Race 11, A1 525: Having his comeback race the William Moules owned and Liam Butler Senior trained Annacurra Jet 2/1 made no mistake obliging in 29.09. Led early on by Genuine Pearl ‘Annacurra’ poached a second bend lead on the rails. It proved all so easy for ‘Annacurra’ from that point on cruising to a two and a half lengths defeat of ‘Genuine’. Going rating. Standard.
