Kilcohan Park – Saturday March 12th
Having only his second race outing Rastafari Taj 5/4 produced a no nonsense front running effort to lead all the way in a best of night 28.70. In front from the break in race eight ‘Rastafari’ increased his lead as this four-bender wore on eventually coming home all of eight and a half lengths clear of Spirty Murtie who gave chase throughout. The winner is owned by Jackie Roche who is also the owner of last Saturday nights impressive Thurles Champion Bitch stake winner Rastafari Chic.
Race 1, N1/N2 525: Snow Acorn showed in front here from the break but heading out onto the back stretch Archaton Shelly struck the front on the rails. Coming with a late surge however the William Byrne owned and Michael Henderson trained Crucial Heidi 6/4 pounced close home to basically outstay ‘Archaton’ by a neck in 29.57.
Race 2, S6/S8 325: Butterstown Kate cut out the early running but when the leader came wide into the home straight the reserve Ardera Dynamo 2/1 shot into the lead up the inside before scoring by a length in 18.20. Harry Seery trains the winner for UK based Gordon Claydon.
Race 3, A8/A9 525: The Diarmuid Roche owned Sophies Sizzler 3/1 got off the mark at the sixth attempt leading throughout in a lifetime best 29.63. Cutting every corner ‘Sophies’ was never in any danger of defeat hitting the winning line with one and a half lengths to spare over a running on Black Sika.
Race 4, A6 525: Bringing her stamina into play the Margaret Walsh owned and Peter Cronin trained El Latino finished strongly to triumph in a career best 29.17. Led for a long way by Tagalong Rose ‘El’ gradually reeled in the leader before readily scoring by three and a half lengths. The winner was a 6/4 shot at the off.
Race 5, A5 525: Strawberry Shaw and Skeard Special locked horns here before ‘Skeard’ took an outright lead on the outside off the home turn. Owned by Michael Flynn and Andrew Delahunty 5/2 shot ‘Skeard’ kept on well in the home stretch to deservedly score by two and half lengths from Tree Tops Beauty. Time 29.12.
Race 6, A6 525: A recent Enniscorthy winner for Raymond O Sullivan and William Marlin 6/4 shot Tycoon Dixie posted back to back victories with a deserved all the way success in 29.44. Spoon Me looked a big danger over the final two bends but digging deep ‘Tycoon’ landed the spoils by half a length.
Race 7, A5 525: The Teddy Robinson owned Mixed Society was the best backed runner and this 4/5 market leader duly delivered in some style in a speedy 29.00. Firing himself into an early lead over Sanfrancisco Sky and Alans Time ‘Mixed’ made the long dash for home. In a one sided affair ‘Mixed’ cruised to a cosy seven lengths success over Alans Time.
Race 8, A4 525: See introduction.
Race 9, A3 525: The reserve Airmount Kiwi led to the third bend before giving way to a rails running 5/2 chance Dashing Impact. Owned by Andrew Sinnott ‘Dashing’ stayed on well thereafter to eventually run out a clear cut six and a half lengths win over ‘Airmount’ in a smart 28.95.
Race 10, A4 525: Well on his way to his fourth birthday Boderan Duke still retains plenty of ability this 6/4 chance coming from behind to score in 29.03. Overtaking the front running Tagalong Tommy at the penultimate bend Michael O Grady’s ‘Boderan’ kept on well at the head of affairs running out a two and a half lengths winner over Pinewood Diva.
Race 11, A2 525: The lucky last is easily described with the Catriona Maguire owned Daring Rush 2/1 making a solid break from trap three to lead all the way in a lively 28.82. Mays Spirit gave chase throughout but ‘Daring’ was not for catching on this occasion hitting the winning line with a length and a half to spare over ‘Mays’.
Going rating. Standard.
