WHEN it comes to the vacant seat on Waterford City and County Council, which will arise with the election of Mary ButlerMary Butler, Fianna Fáil’s Director of elections in Waterford said they are taking it one step at a time.

Speaking to the Waterford News & Star at the count centre in Waterford Institute of Technology Cllr John O’Leary said, “We took every day as it came. Today is the day that we put our best foot forward. We wanted to win a seat for the party. The party here in Waterford for the last five years has been without a seat.”

Regarding the vacancy Cllr O’Leary said the party hasn’t decided on a replacement for Cllr Butler, who holds a seat in the Comeragh District. “It will be a matter for the party in Waterford.”
