A 30-year-old man was found guilty of assault causing harm at Waterford’s Circuit Criminal Court this afternoon, following an incident with his girlfriend at their Dungarvan home.

Denis Daly, with an address of 48 Cathal Brugha Place, Dungarvan, was living with his partner Colette Cleary when he assaulted her in the early hours of June 20 of last year.

Earlier in the trial Ms. Cleary told the jury how the pair had friends over but once the guests had left, herself and Daly’s bickering escalated to a sustained period of fighting; leaving her with bruising in multiple areas across her body.

Daly will be sentenced on April 5 later this year.
