WHAT you believe in, what you say and what you would hope to do when you find favour with the electorate are not necessarily the only things to catch public attention.
It’s often the little things that can draw the eyes to a candidate or candidates – the things they are not aware of themselves but get the attention nevertheless for good or evil.
Last week in the Theatre Royal it was “the shoes” and coming out on top in that particular contest were Deputy John Halligan, Senator David Cullinane and Ian Noctor, who was MC for the pre-election debate organised by Waterford, Dungarvan and west Waterford Chambers.
John Halligan was wearing a pair of tan leather slip-ons while Senator Cullinane went for tan brogues with navy suede insets.
Chairman Noctor went for plain tan and all leather brogues.
It was a race where, surprisingly, the ladies didn’t feature, with plain and sensible the order of the day.
