IRISH Water said it is aware of the fire that caused up to €100,000 worth of damage to equipment at a compound on the Lacken Road in the early hours of this morning.

They acknowledged the equipment destroyed by the blaze belongs to water meter installers working on behalf of Irish Water.
A statement issued to the Waterford News & Star said, “A Garda forensic team is currently on site and Irish Water is assisting Gardai with their investigation.” However, Irish Water refused to make further comment as the matter is under investigation.
