THE GIY (Grow It Yourself) Cookbook ‘Grow Cook Eat’ launched by author and founder of GIY, Dunmore East man, Michael Kelly has been announced as a national winner in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. The book now qualifies for ‘Gourmand Best in the World’ Competition.

The global winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held in China in May.

Author, Michael Kelly said, “I really wanted this book to have crossover appeal for growers and foodies so I am absolutely delighted and honoured that the book is shortlisted for the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.”

‘Grow Cook Eat’ is a cookbook which aims to help the reader to develop a deeper understanding of food, where it comes from and how to take it from seed to field to fork. It features a month by month guide on growing and tasks to do in the growing plot for that particular season along with recipes and contributions from over 35 of GIY’s favourite chefs, cooks and growers.

All proceeds from the sale of the book go to GIY as the organization develops GROW HQ, the pioneering food education centre, due to open in Waterford later in 2015.
