A KNIFE was held against a shop attendant’s neck during a robbery that took place in broad daylight at a city store yesterday afternoon.

At around 2.30pm yesterday a male entered Scarlet on The Quay, approached the attendant from behind and held a 5” knife against her neck.

The suspect made his demands, but the quick thinking attendant drew his attention to the CCTV camera in shop. The culprit left without anything.

Gardaí were alerted.  CCTV in the area was checked and the culprit was identified and arrested. The 40-year-old was detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.  This morning he will be brought before Waterford District Court to be charged with robbery.  The shop attendant was shaken, but uninjured.
