BAIL has been refused at Waterford District Court in the case of a 19-year-old charged with alledgedly committing two counts of arson at properties in Ballybeg .

Gerard Halloran, with an undisclosed address, appeared before the District Court shortly before lunchtime yesterday.

The 19-year-old was before a special sitting of the District Court on Friday night last charged with arson at St Saviours GAA club and arson at the Ballybeg Youth Resource Centre on January 24. He was also charged with burglary at St Saviours GAA club on the same date.

Judge Kevin Staunton refused to grant bail to Halloran. He has been further remanded in custody to St Patrick’s Detention Centre in Dublin to appear before the Court again on February 17.
