WATERFORD Right2Water will hold a protest demonstration and rally on Saturday January 31 as part of a national mobilisation by local groups within Right2Water campaign.

The march will assemble at the Glen at 2pm and will proceed to the Mall where a rally will be held and addressed by speakers from communities and affiliated organisations.

Acting chairperson, Tom Hogan said Right 2Water will be meeting with all the pillars of the campaign such as community groups, political parties and TDs and Trade Unions and will begin a process of seeking submissions from individuals and anti water charges groups throughout the country.

He added that Right2Water supports all peaceful protest including water meter protests, non-payment and peaceful disobedience.

Tom Hogan went on to describe the Government’s strategy on water as being in tatters. “They’ve been forced to shift and stumble, first from bullying arrogance, then to temporary “concessions”. They are hoping the protests will just die down and that confidence will fall by the time the first bills land in April,” he said.
