A TWO-year-old girl has died following a road traffic accident in Waterford city this morning.
The accident occurred on Manor Street outside Eden nightclub, which was formerly known as Harvey’s.
The young girl and her mother were crossing the road at around 10.10am when she was struck by a lorry.
The toddler sadly passed away in the ambulance on the way to University Hospital Waterford. Her 30-year-old mother was also taken to hospital, but her injuries are not believed to be serious.
Manor Street, from Bath Street College Street junction and Parnell Street is now closed and will be for several hours.
Garda forensic collision investigators are examining the scene. The coroner has been notified. Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
