A MAN in his late 20s suffered a serious head injury and had to be transferred to Cork University Hospital after an alleged assaulted in Ballybeg last night .
The man, from the Ballybeg area, was discovered outdoors in the Priory Lawn area of the estate around 11pm last night.
He suffered a serious head injury and was brought to University Hospital Waterford (UHW). The man was later transferred to Cork University Hospital, where he is currently being treated for his injury.
Separately another man in his late 20s was discovered in a serious condition after taking a fall in the Manor Village area of Manor Street. This man also suffered an injury to his head and was taken to UHW. Gardaí say this man is in a serious condition.
An unconscious male with a cut to his eye and head was found last night on John Street at 3am. It is believed that he was knocked out for a total of 15 minutes. The local man in his 20s alleged he had been assaulted by four males. He was brought to UHW and is in a stable condition.
Gardaí are also asking the public to be on the lookout for a blue car after a man exposed himself to secondary school students in the city.
Lastly, a fire broke out this morning at an apartment on Mary Street. Gardaí and Waterford Fire Service attended the scene. The fire was minor, but smoke damage occurred. A man and woman were taken to UHW as a precaution.
