AN elderly woman received minor injuries after colliding with another car when she mistakenly drove down the wrong side of the road at the bypass in Kilmeaden this afternoon.

It is believed that the woman, who was driving on her own, became disorientated and took a wrong turn resulting in the collision with a car coming in the opposite direction shortly after 4pm.

The woman was brought to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) to receive treatment for a minor injury to her head, while the occupant of the other car was uninjured.

The bypass road is closed and traffic diversions are in place. The road should be reopened shortly.
