A HOMEOWNER was left in a state of alarm and shock after four youths kicked in the front door and forced their way into the lady’s house.

At approximately 9.15pm on Wednesday, February 26 the woman was in her home at Foyle Avenue, Avondale, when the terrifying incident occurred.
After hearing the raucous at the front door the woman went into the hallway where the youths, who were all in their late teens, were standing. Bravely she shouted at the young intruders, who all immediately ran away from the scene.
Nothing was taken during the burglary and nobody was injured, but the woman was left shaken by the ordeal.
A number of other burglaries also took place in the past week. Between 12pm on Saturday, March 1 and 3pm on Sunday, March 2 a house was broken into at Ardmore Park, Ballybeg. The injured party reported the house was broken into through a window at the back door and through a kitchen window. A 42″ Panasonic Plasma TV was taken.
Separately, a homeowner of a house at Viewmount returned home to find the house ransacked. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday, February 26. A window to the back of the house was forced to gain entry to the premises. Some items of jewellery were taken. The injured party reported hearing a knock at the door around 7pm but when they went to answer nobody was present.
