A lucky county Waterford man, who won €250,000 in the Lotto Plus 2 draw on Saturday January 25, collected his big prize at National Lottery headquarters in Dublin on Monday.

The delighted winner, who wants to remain anonymous, was accompanied by his extended family as they celebrated his fantastic win with a glass of champagne and let out a big round of applause when he received his cheque.

The Waterford man bought his ticket on the day of the draw, Saturday 25 of January in Vivo in Greencloyne, Youghal, Co. Cork. He said he was a regular player who played every week.

The lucky winner said he found out about his good fortune on the day after the draw. “I heard on Sunday that a local had won, so I checked my ticket,” he said. “There were my numbers. I’ve always played the same numbers, so I recognised them straight away.”

The local winner said he did not consider himself to be lucky prior to his Lotto windfall, however, he previously won €10,000 on a scratch card a number of years ago.
